AVR runner Tom Bland won the inaugural Killerton 10km off-road race at Killerton House on Sunday morning, writes Dave Mutter.
Unfortunately, his watch strap broke on the start line so he didn’t record a finish time, but was a good minute or so ahead of the second place finisher!
Graham Newton also ran and said the route took the runners through beautiful woodlands filled with bluebells and wild garlic and up and down the hills surrounding Killerton House. Graham was very pleased to win the Over-60s category, finishing in around 1:52.
Patrick Devine-Wright finished second in the Ultra Brecon 40 from Talybont on Usk in South Wales, part of the Welsh Ultra Running series. His time was six hours 58 min for the 40-mile course which involved about 2000m of ascent and challenging weather conditions - hill fog, rain, gusting winds and eventually sunshine. Predictably, Devine-Wright remains a bit stiff!
