Back to the bread and butter 'handicap adjustment' games this week with the monthly Stableford and a strong contender for having an overhaul must be Div 1 winner Steve Bromby who continues to get regular mentions on this page, writes Andy Wagner.
His 37pts pushed Paul Coates’ 36 into second with Richard Beard, 35pts in third. Div 2 had Sam Bowyer Thornton lead the pack with 38 ahead of Alan Booth-Seaton on count back. Dean Bonetta’s 37 took third.
Tuesday Mixed members played for the annual Steele Perkins Trophy.
Individual Stableford was played in twos, mixed pairings.
The winner, with 37pts, was Bob Barnes. Just losing out on c/b, taking second place was John Northover.
Third place, with 36pts, was Jane Watts and fourth Olwen Eaton with 35pts. Two 2s were recorded. John Dickinson on the second hole and Paul Witton on the fourth.
The Seniors played their Longhurst Cup competition in mixed weather, and the last few home got a good soaking on their last holes.
Sixty nine took part in the three-ball better ball Stableford, and in the process raised £69 for the Save The Children Fund.
Senior’s captain John Discombe presented the cup to Mike Watts, Don Stroud and Tom Tinnicliffe who came in with 40 points.
Also on 40 were Peter Shepherd, Ron Rogers and Ashley Murray. Angus Falconer, Pat Purtell and John Ward scored 39 points, beating Pete Morgan, Max Pipe and Alan Booth on countback.
