Burges bounces back

PUBLISHED: 14:43 23 June 2011

Lewis Burges a student at Axe Valley School, currently sitting his GCSEs, bounced back after a year out with a hamstring injury, to win the Intermediate boys’ 100 metres at the Devon Schools championships.

Burges, who is a member of Exeter Harriers, was also second in long jump and qualified to represent Devon at Exeter Arena in the South West County Championships in both events.

He set a new PB in the 100m heat and went through to the final where, unfortunately, he just missed out on selection time of 11.2

All successful athletes will be selected to represent Devon in the English schools competition held at Gateshead on July 1 and 2.
