The Caddy Classic was contested last week, writes Steve Percival.
Very much a social event with a serious fund raising intent, brothers Russell and Lee Caddy staged their annual golf classic event on the final Friday of July.
In near perfect weather and with the course continuing to play firm on the fairways and true but quick on the greens, the event was a resounding success both in terms of scores carded and funds raised.
The overall winner with 43 Stableford points, was Dave Henson, closely followed by Mike Cotton from Seaton with 42 and Shane Stone with 41.
Following the golf the majority of participants enjoyed an excellent meal in the club house presided over by Master of Ceremonies David Astill, who, through a variety of fines, helped to boost the funds raised.
The total of £450 raised was divided between The Uplyme and Lyme Regis cricket club and the Lyme Regis football club of which the sons of Russell, Ashley and Adam, are respective captains.
The final Saturday of July saw the staging The Junior Order of Merit and it saw some excellent scores recorded. It was certainly a closely contested affair with count back needed to determine the winner.
Daniel Collier won the event with a net 70, the same score that David Lyon returned. George Yorke took third place with a net 72.
