Lewis Burges, a member of Exeter Harriers and a sixth form student at the Axe Valley Community College, has recently visited Belgium to take part in an International Senior competition.

Lewis competed in Long Jump and 100 Metres in Antwerp with the South West Athletics Academy team representing Great Britain.

Lewis finished in 5th in the 100 metres.

He said: “I was very pleased with my 100m. I led the race throughout until the last 20m where the experienced sprinters caught me up. I was still proud to think that if I had maintained my speed I would have won. I also competed in Long Jump, which was a respectable result as I have been injured for a year and have had no training. My winter training is now in progress and things are looking promising for next year.”
