Honiton are just two points off the summit of the Tolchards Devon Cricket League E Division East at the halfway point of the campaign after a hugely impressive six wicket win over hosts Kentisbeare.

Making the win all the more impressive is the fact that the Kents had been beaten just once before this season prior to the Honiton visit.

It was skipper Adam Holmes, who was the star of the show, first taking four wickets as the home side were bowled out for 234, and then top scoring with a superb unbeaten 135 to lead his side to their eighth victory in nine league outings so far this season.

As well as the Holmes’ bowling return of 3-47, Kev Kelly took 3-35. The successful run chase was led by that unbeaten Holmes century and the ‘best of the rest’ was an unbeaten knock of 35 from Rob Ingram.

Next up for Honiton is Saturday’s (July 7) home meeting with a Woodbury and Newton St Cyres side that they defeated by 77 runs when they met at Town Lane on the opening day of the season.
