Carnival Queen drive a great success at Seaton Bowls Club
Seaton Bowls Club held their popular Bank Holiday charity drive in support of the annual Seaton Carnival run by Seaton Lions, writes Ted Harden.
The event raised �140 which was presented to the Carnival Queen and the drive winner was George Mabon with a score of +13.
Seaton entertained Grange Bowls Club on their annual tour in a five mixed rink game which the visitors won 97-89.
The top performing home rink was that of Ann Wright, Bob Benfield, Ken Russell and Rhonda Follenfant.
In the Men’s over60s Triples league Seaton A went down 34-24 at Cullompton. Here the top performing Seaton rink was that of David Ford, Keith Miles and Alan Wood. However, the B team beat Belmont ‘B’ by 48 shots to 27. Top triple was Richard Whitworth, Bob Scull and David Yardley.

Bridport visited and claimed a 135-110 victory with the top home rink being that of Ian Manchester, Ann Joyner, Fred Dart and Rhonda Follenfant.
The Ladies’ went down 33-27 in an over-50s Triples league game against Bitton. The top home triple was that of Shirley Fewtrell, Barbara Harden and Joan Miles.

Seaton welcomed Avon and Somerset Constabulary touring bowls team last Saturday for a men’s seven rink match. Due to a shortage of players, Seaton fielded three lady players in one of their teams. It is a regular visit that the Constabulary team. Their first one being back in 1996 and this year they won four of the seven rinks with an overall win of 148 shots to 129. The ladies were in one of winning Seaton rinks.
