Chard and District Swimming Club members impress at Gala

Chard Swimming Club’s successful second Club Gala of 2015 holds promise for the rest of the year, writes Mollie Simpson.

With swimmers ranging from six to 17 and the help of young volunteers Tessa Down, Joe Spurway, Hannah Pullinger and Susan Ross, the club achieved some excellent swims.

Regional and National Qualifications cannot officially be achieved at this level of competition, however, an outstanding 23 County Qualifying times were achieved from 13 swimmers, securing their place in the Somerset County Championships.

Kaitlyn Flannigan achieved a time of 18.96 in the 25m freestyle novice, earning her not only first place, but a bronze speed badge as well.
