Chard swimmers excell at Axminster Gala

Chard and District Swimming Club held their second Prelim Gala of the year at the Flamingo Pool in Axminster recently, writes Simon Davis.
The Prelim Gala’s enable younger swimmers and swimmers who would not normally race at an open meet can gain experience in racing. Just under 40 swimmers waited excitedly on poolside; for some their first ever competition.
This time 50-metre races were swam proving difficult for some but everyone stepped up to the challenge and put in excellent performances.
At the end of the evening all swimmers were presented with certificates by chairman Gordon Davis. As well as this Grace Lambert and Oliver Coillins were presented with the Swimmer of the Month trophies for September.
The gala also gave some of the older swimmers a chance to gain experience at officiating and marshalling. These were: Timekeeping – Henry Taswell, Ben Greenslade, Ollie Bright, Jamie Pullinger and Simon Davis; Marshalling – Briana Barrand, Millie Downes and Tessa Down.
Congratulations to all the swimmers that took part in this very successful event with many personal best times achieved: Louis Rood, Ben Webb, William Swann, Lyndon Smith, Jevan Hampton Rumbold, Oliver Collins, Jack Morgan, Dylan Nolan, Harrison Larcombe, Aeron Biscoe, William & Henry Birchall, Harrison Porter, Edward Sims, Finlay Downes, Grace Lambert, Freya Rex, Abbie Herbert, Hannah Swann, Catherine Webb, Sarah Cawley, Isabella Young, Veronica Mills, Harriet Wigham, Eleanor Poole, Nia McConnell, Cerys Williams, Katie Hampton Rumbold, Lily Sims, Delilah Hutter, Bella Shrubb, Daisy Russell, Suzie Rood, Alara Jenkin, Florence Whitthome and Marcie Russell.
