Each year, Honiton Bowling Club supports a local charity and the chosen Charity for 2021 was Hospice Care Honiton.

This week, the Bowling Club’s Management Committee presented Toni Hiscocks from Hospice Care with a cheque for £1,000 raised by members of the club to help support the amazing work they do for people and families in our community.

Bowlers from Honiton travelled to Exonia to play a Mixed Triples Friendly match and, despite a great effort from Honiton, Exonia proved to be on fine form, winning the match (71 - 49). The top rink for Honiton was that of E Richardson, J Granger, B Adlam (12 - 9)

A touring team from Bristol St Andrews travelled to Honiton to play the last match of their tour. Everyone had an enjoyable match and great to welcome touring teams to the club, with the top rink for Honiton M Critchley, J Granger, A Hillyear, G Osborne (20 - 9). Before traveling back to Bristol, the bowlers enjoyed an evening meal at the club.

In the Ladies Triples League, the Honiton Honeybees played at Ottery St Mary and produced some excellent bowls to win the match (47 - 24). Top rink J Heard, D Courtney, C Binmore (25 - 6),

The Honeybees have also played a match at Chardstock but were unable to find the same form, eventually going down to a defeat (26 - 32). Top rink drawing with Chardstock (14 - 14) was that of J Granger, M Bright, B Maynard.

In the Ladies Interclub, Honiton played Kings, winning the match (46 - 39). Top rink Y Williams, A Dredge, Y Rayner, D Morley (27 - 15). Honiton now play Uffculme in the next round.

The Honiton Men team enjoyed success in the Men’s Foxlands match, winning (39 - 36) against Sidmouth. The results were Home (23 - 19) Away (16 - 17). The men will now go through to the final round, playing against Ottery St Mary next week.

In the Men’s Country Trophy match, Honiton Men were not so successful, losing (66 - 98) against Ottery St Mary.
