Division One

OPG 40, Bo-Peeps 19

Uplowman 26, Hi Q 20

Flamingos 26, Wasps 24

OPG maintained their winning start to the season when they came up against Bo-Peeps and consigned them to a second defeat without a point for their efforts, writes Graham Ingram.

The game started evenly with OPG leading 9-5 at quarter time before they moved 21-9 at half way thanks to some fine defending from Hannah Lee at GD. With Laura Harris shooting well in the third period Bo-Peeps had moved to within a point gaining result at 17-30 behind only to fall away in the final quarter to lose by 40-19.

Uplowman and Hi Q were both looking for their first win of the campaign when they met and it was Uplowman who came out on top – eventually – with Hi Q having to be content with a point for their efforts. With Bev Hellyer playing well it was Hi Q who had the best of the first three quarters, leading throughout so that going into the final session they were 19-16 ahead. With Heather Adcock playing well the final period belonged to Uplowman and there was a big turn around, with Uplowman taking the lead for the first time and recording a fine 26-20 victory.

Third game saw Flamingos up against Wasps. The first quarter was low scoring with Flamingos leading 4-3.

The second quarter saw an improvement and with Katie Marsh defending well for Flamingos they held off a Wasps challenge to lead 12-11. The third quarter was close but Wasps still behind at 16-18. In the fourth period Wasps fought hard, with Nicky Fields doing well, but they couldn’t close the gap and it was Flamingos who recorded the win by 26-24.

Weather Girls 46, JD Tyres 21

Sidmouth Toucans 30, NAS 26

Tip Top Trees10, Howden Hawks 0

In division two Howden Hawks were unable to field a team and forfeited their game against Tip Top Trees by 10-0 as per league rules. At the top of the table the Weather Girls continued their run of never losing a second division game when they came up against JD Tyres. Weather Girls led from the start with Laura Stewart in fine form and although Julie Norman worked hard for JD they couldn’t get close to the Girls and went down by 46-21.

The other game saw Sidmouth Toucans pick up their first points with NAS once again having to be content with a single point.

The game was a close run thing with the sides all square at quarter time 6-6. By half way it was NAS who had edged in front by 14-12 thanks to some good work from Lacey Darliac.

By the start of the final period it was the Toucans who were 21-19 in front with Jo White once again an inspiration to the team and they built on this momentum to end the night victors by 30-26.
