In the penultimate week, the Feniton mixed team suffered their worst week of the season, writes Roger Smith.

They lost to Devon Patrons by 85-117, Bitton Park by 57-93 and Madeira by 61-78!

Away from the league action, the weekend was given over to the club competition finals.

In the final of the ladies’ singles Tracey Crawford defeated Vanessa Murdoch by 21 shots to 16 in a contest that see-sawed from first wood to last. In the club singles final, Kevin Lovering defeated Dave Sanders by 21 shots to two and he then bagged success in the final of the men’s singles, beating Alan Smith by 21 shots to 10. In the Sir John Acland Shield competition, Bill Bowden secured victory over Arthur Murdoch by three sets to two. In what proved to be a pulsating match, Bill won 7-3,1-7, 7-2, 6-7, 7-5.
