Cook wins EWGA Medal at Axe Cliff GC

Last Friday the Ladies of Axe Cliff welcomed a host of ladies to their Open Stableford competition, full handicap in teams of three with the two best scores to count.

The winners with 73 points were from Came Down - Ada Ford, Mary Catterkey and Margaret Allen. Second place went to a trio from Yeovil and Sherborne namely Rosemary Bickhan, Hannah Jacobson and Esma Woods with 71 points.

Third place went to Sue Slade, Phyl Lewison and Gill Magrath with 69 points. The prizes went up to eighth place with the only two Axe Cliff home players to gain a prize being Helen Kenworthy and Alison Cook in fifth and sixth place respectively.

Nearest the pin for the visitors went to Margaret Allen from Came Down. The longest drive for the silver players went to Diane Gough from Taunton Vale and in the bronze division to Brenda Hyde from Honiton.

This Wednesday the ladies competed for the EWGA Medal combined with the Lorraine Cup ehich was eligable for any ladies who had won a Medal in the previous year. Winner of the Medal was Alison Cook with Sandra Walker retaining the Lorraine Cup for another year.
