A quiet week for the club with few friendlies, but an interesting head to head in Div 1 of the Men s West Dorset League.

A quiet week for the club with few friendlies, but an interesting head to head in Div 1 of the Men's West Dorset League.

Lyme A were up against Lyme B, a game in which the B team felt they had something to prove, and prove it they nearly did. With a drawn game, and a win and lose scenario on the other two rinks, it couldn't have been closer, the A team winning by six points.

The ladies continued on a winning streak with eight points taken from local rivals Bridport, they really should be eyeing up the main prize of promotion for next season.

An entertaining evening was had on Thursday when the club hosted their annual fixture against the town council and its employees. The supper after the game was very kindly provided by members of the council team. Having cast an eye over some of the council players that evening, one or two of them could easily make a name for themselves in the bowling arena. The club finals are this weekend, the best we can hope for is fine weather.

The annual Lyme Regis Ladies' Invitation Triples Tournament was held in glorious weather, 22 visiting teams, and two from Lyme, took part in 55 minute round robin sessions.

Two teams from Bridport, one from both Wimborne and Dorchester took part in the semi-finals.

The final, played over nine ends, was contested between Wimborne and Dorchester with Wimborne running out winners by 9-2.

The day was greatly enhanced by the ladies of the committee, under the stewardship of Margaret Bartlett, who provided not only lunch but tea and cakes throughout the day.

It is believed that most participants have already shown an interest in being invited again next year.
