Where has the golfing season gone? The main club competed this Sunday for the first round of the Winter league.

Winners, with a great opening round of 46 points, were club captain Richard Gibbons (9) and Steve Anning (11).

Second with 45 points were Dave Nichols (12) and Mike Rymer (13). Third, with 44 points, were Paul Clode (8) and Simon Sweetland (17).

Seniors' Section - Despite the gloomy forecast, only the gusting wind was a problem for the Seniors on Quarterly Cup day, which was followed by the presentation of prizes that were won in Medals and Stablefords over the past three months, by the captain Gilbert Cox.

Scoring for the 30 competitors was very difficult and the best returns came from the final group, producing both the winner and the runner-up.

Both players had 28 points and the winner on countback was Norman Bowles (22) with Phil Christmas (26) having to settle for second place. Third with 26 points was Nick Stanton.

This Monday, in glorious autumn sunshine, the Seniors resoundingly beat the Ladies in the Courtesy Cup played as a matchplay Greensome.

The Ladies competed to see who would represent the club in the Daily Mail Foursomes. The winners were Sandra Walker (16) and Barbara Cummings (26).
