It was bitter sweet for the Upottery cricketers back at their Sidmouth Arms headquarters on Saturday night for the 2nd XI could not emulate their senior side’s endeavours as they lost a close affair at home to Feniton II beaten by three runs.

The defeat was certainly harsh on Adam Crabb who emerged from the game with seven wickets and his side’s top scorer! Crabb claimed 7-58, and with a brace of catches he had a hand in the first nine Feniton wickets to fall, the final one going down on 119.

Crabb then hit 24 and Graham Pidgeon struck 22 but the last Upottery wicket fell on 116.

Skipper Dan Prettejohn said: “The less said about the outcome of the game the better. We did all the hard work in bowling them out for a very gettable total and then undid all the good work with a disappointing batting display. Still there’s always the next game!”

On Saturday the 2nds travel to top of the table Exeter III.
