Cranbrook United Under-15s suffered the heartbreak of a dramatic penalty shoot-out in a truly sensational Devon Cup Final.
Played on the sparkling new artificial surface at Coach Road, headquarters of the Devon County FA, Cranbrook were superb in the opening stages and raced into a 3-0 lead against a bewildered Newton Abbot Spurs.
The momentum of the game then shifted in favour of Spurs, as they clawed their way back from the brink of defeat and, incredibly, went into the closing stages leading 5-4.
There was another twist in this epic tale, as Cranbrook won a penalty in the final minute and held their nerve to send the game into the tension of a shoot-out.
In the ultimate football lottery, Newton Abbot Spurs were the side to prevail and lift the trophy, but massive congratulations to both sides for putting on a tremendous show.
