Sidmouth must pick themselves up, and quickly, after a batting collapse sparked an eight-wicket thumping at Bovey Tracey in the Devon Cricket League Premier Division.
Champions Tiverton Heathcoat, who moved five points clear at the top with a five-wicket win over Exeter, are next up at Fortfield this weekend.
Sidmouth's top-order has been so reliable recently, and no real alarm-bells rang when, after winning the toss at Bovey's Recreation Ground, they reached 72-1. Isaac Thomas scored 28 and skipper Luke Bess eventually 52.
But Bovey spinners Chris Bradley (4-16 off 10ovs) and Toby Codd (3-43) then got to work and Sidmouth slumped to 168 all out in 46 overs.
It was a done deal only 29 overs later, thanks to Bovey's overseas players Abraham Kopparambil (51) and Asantha Singappuli (57no), plus Dan Green's 45no.
Exmouth enjoyed a far better weekend from the East Devon scene, defeating Hatherleigh by six wickets to pick up a valuable 20 points, keeping the Maer men in sixth.
Tiverton now lead (123pts) from Sandford (118), but only 17 points cover Paignton (103) in third place from Exeter in eighth, and Sidmouth are in that mid-table bunch.
There was much better news for Sidmouth 2nds, who moved into fourth spot in C Division East with an eight-wicket win over Ottery St Mary - they travel to title-chasing Exmouth 2nds this Saturday.
Sidbury continued their fine run of form in G Division, beating leaders Shobrooke Park by 60 runs.
It was brothers Alex (52) and Olly Paget (43), who set it all up - they shared a fifth-wicket stand of 99 in Sidbury's total of 219-7.
