Axminster beaten for third successive game

Axminster have slumped to the bottom of the early season B Division table after a third straight defeat, beaten by ten wickets at Hatherleigh.

Only Tristan Wakeley (48) and Robbie Prior (23) made much of an impact with the bat in a total of 124, passed with ease by the North Devon side with their opening pair seeing them over the line.

It’s just eight points from three outings for the Axe men who hosts second in the table Chudleigh this Saturday.

There was no action for Axminster II with scheduled opponents North Devon II crying off unable to raise an eleven.

They did play at Thorverton where Axminster III’s went down by 148 runs.

The Thors batted first and posted a commanding 246-6. John Swain (42) then put up fierce resistance, but the final wicket in the reply fell on 98.

On Saturday the Axminster 2nds travel to Exmouth 3rds and the Axminster Thirds host Cullompton 2nds.
