Axminster’s plight at the foot of the B Division is beginning to look hopeless after they slumped to a sixth defeat of the season, beaten by seven wickets at Cloakham Lawns by Hatherleigh.

Rob Walker (87) and Mark Jenkins (37) were the principle run providers in an all out total of 169, passed with some comfort by the visitors.

Axminster are now 41 points from safety with just 120 to play for. They travel to promotion seeking Chudleigh on Saturday.

Axminster II were beaten by nine wickets at North Devon III.

Chris Ledbetter (35) and Dave Gadsden (17) led Axminster to 126 all out, passed for the loss of just the one wicket by the hosts.

Axminster III were unable to muster an eleven to play their game with Thorverton III and so lose anther ten points.
