Yarcombe continue to harbour promotion hopes, albeit slim ones given the form of the top two in the F Division.

All Nigel Parris’s side can do is continue to win their games and hope either Topsham St James or Shaldon slip up in the run-in.

They bowled visiting Cullompton out for 163 with James Mitchum (4-16) and Matthew Barnacle (4-48) doing the damage.

With normal opener David Patch injuring his back whilst fielding he was unable to open the reply and so skipper Nigel Parris promoted himself.

He batted superbly, finishing with an unbeaten 49 and Jonathan Rich was still there at stumps with 51. The only home batsman to be dismissed was Simon Durrant for 24.

A delighted Parris said: “Matthew (Barnacle) bowled superbly, it was a n excellent spell of disciplined bowling. We can only win our games and hope and that’s what we are planning on doing”.

Next up for Yarcombe is Saturday’s visit of Hemyock.
