Feniton edged out at Barnstaple and Pilton

Feniton have made their customary slow start to a new cricket season and sit bottom of the C (East) table with 21 points from three games after a narrow five run defeat at Barnstaple and Pilton.

Barum batted first and were denied maximum batting points when restricted to 198-5. Mark Kingdon and Francis Pyle each bagged a brace of wickets.

Graham Tucker top scored with 38 in the reply and Sean Devine weighed in with 36 whilst Canadian youngster Adam Rancharran scored 32, but the run chase came up six runs short with the last pair at the wicket after the final ball of the match had been bowled.

Feniton II banked a 20-point haul from a 77 run win over Ottery St Mary III.

There were contributions from Stuart Lawler (60), Neil Anning (31), Adrian Codling (28) and Stuart Bright (24), in a total of 250-5.

The Otters were then bowled out for 178 with J Tucker claiming 4-11, Kev Brandon (3-50) and Stuart Bright (2-9).

On Saturday Feniton 1st XI will look to win at the third time of asking whet ye entertain another side yet to win, Kentisbeare. The Acland Park 2nd XI are on their travels, they go to Topsham St James who were unable to field an eleven on mathcday three.
