Feniton net huge win as Uplyme and Lyme Regis are beaten at Acland Park

PUBLISHED: 11:09 14 August 2013

Feniton powered to a superb 130-run home win over Uplyme and Lyme Regis.

Typical of the campaign the Acland Park side have endured that, on the day they net a rare success the other two sides in the bottom three also win!

However, what it all mean sis that, with three games to play and 66 points to battle for, Feniton are now within catching distance of no fewer than four teams in the race to avoid a bottom two finish.

Adi Pullin (51), and Brian Cann (41), put on 105 for the opening wicket. Number three bat Mark Kingdon chipped in with 28 and then teenager Josh Cann (39) and John Pyle (18) put on 39 for the fifth wicket as Feniton closed on 248-8.

Kingdon then became the star of the home bowling as he took five wickets to finish with figures of 5-40 from nine overs. John Pyle (3-28) and Brian Cann (1-15), were the other wicket takers whilst 15-year-old Cann junior held four catches behind the wicket as the visitors were bowled out got 118.

Feniton remain bottom, but sixth placed Filleigh are just 21 points above them with 66 to play.

It may be well be home comforts that save Graham Tucker’s side for they host Halberton and Sampford Peverell on Saturday, when a win would see them climb out of the bottom two, before travelling to Seaton and the completing their campaign at home to Ashburton on August 31.
