Feniton’s bid to effect a great escape from the D Division relegation berths looks set to fail after they were beaten by 25-runs at Seaton.

There was one big bright spot about another disappointing outcome for the side with teenager Josh Cann striking another fluent knock, this one of 40, as the team were bowled out for 179 in reply to the home teams offering of 204.

That represented a good session for the Feniton bowlers and outfielders with John French and Francis Pyle both claiming three wicket hauls.

It needs a dramatic final day to enable Acland Park to avoid staging E Division cricket next season with Feniton heading into the last match day of the campaign sitting a dozen points from safety.

What it all means is that no mater what they do in their last game at home to Ashburton, if Halberton and Sampford Peverell get nine points from their visit to Uplyme and Lyme Regis and Filleigh take three from their home game with Clyst Hydon, then Feniton will finish in the bottom two and prepare to face the likes of Kingskerswell, Cullompton and Topsham St James next season.
