Archant

Kilmington put a heavy nail into the Kentisbeare promotion hopes with a winning draw from their visit to the Mid Devon club.

Tom Gooding was the star of the show with a magnificent century that he followed up by bagging a fivefer!

Gooding struck 111 to guide Kilmington to their close of 247.

He then claimed 5-62 as the Kent’s closed, with their last pair at the wicket, on 240-9.

It leaves the villagers fourth and they could yet finish a lofty third if they see off Kenn in Saturday’s final home game and then can win at Whitchurch seven days later.

Kilmington II had to settle for a winning draw at home to Cullompton II. Skipper Ash Cook (64), Graham Watts (46) and Martin Huscroft (41) led the villagers to 250-7.

Charlie Potter took 4-38 from 12 excellent overs for Kilmington as the Mid Devon side closed on a laboured 145-6. On Saturday Ash Cook’s team travel to Kenn II.
