Honiton closing in on promotion after win over Topsham St James

Honiton made it 11 wins in 12 E Division East outings with a six wicket Mountbatten Park win over Topsham St James.

The Tops were bowled out for 140 in 41.2 overs with Ian Kelly taking the bowling honours with a return of 4-22 and there were two wickets for skipper Adam Holmes (2-15) and Willy Graham (2-22).

Honiton needed just 26.2 overs to complete a comprehensive victory with Ben Kidson top scoring with a run-a-ball 39 and number three bat Peter Matravers, seeing the home side over the line with an unbeaten 36.

Honiton IIs went down by 125 runs on their visit to Seaton. The home side batted first and closed on an imposing 234-7 with Ben Goodier hitting 96. Alan Ostler was the pickoff the Honiton bowling with 3-32 and Andy Brinsford had figures of 2-45. The Honiton reply floundered on 109 with Timothy Doulton taking the home bowling honours with 4-10.
