Club chairman Andrew Lapping says: “This year we are starting All Stars which is an exciting eight week programme for five to eight year olds.

“This is a new initiative from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to get young children into cricket and we are pleased to be running this.

“The club will also be fielding again an U10s and U11s team with the emphasis very much on enjoyment and participation.”

Honiton, who play their matches at Mountbatten Park, are an ambitious club and are constantly looking to improve their facilities for players, spectators and families.

Lapping continues: “Building on from the installation of our new practice nets last year we are delighted to confirm funding from the ECB towards a new kitchen, barbecue, fridge-freezer, and tables and benches.

“We will also be supported again by our fantastic sponsors MKM. Thanks to Clive Carvell and his team at the Honiton branch and special thanks also to the Combe Estate, Norcotts Cider and Blamphayne Sawmills.”

In terms of the senior XIs this coming season, the 1st and 2nd XIs will begin new Tolchards Devon League campaigns on the first Friday in May.

This year the league, for the first time, is an all-through league which sees club 1st, 2nd and 3rd XIs all in together. Honiton 1st XI are playing in D Division East and 2nd XI will be in F Division.

Like all clubs, Honiton are always really delighted when they can recruit new folk to play, umpire, coach and volunteer to help with then many off-the-pitch tasks that need to be done to keep a club going.
