Honiton cricketers enjoy awards evening

Honiton Cricket Club held it’s presentation night which, as ever, was well attended.
Chairman Andrew Lapping opened the evening by congratulating all the players and off-field members for their hard work in turning the fortunes of the club around after a few poor seasons, and urged them to keep up the good work to keep them moving in the right direction.
Veteran Pete Beighton won the player of the season for his contribution to 2nd X1 winning the league.
The chairman was voted clubman of the year and tea lady Annette Tucker won the new Sue Linsdell Unsung Hero award, for all her efforts throughout the season.
The 1st XI player awards saw Pete Matravers (batting), Adam Holmes (bowling), Pete Matravers (overall player) and Oli Cave (performance). In the 2nd XI, the award winners were; Pete Beighton (batsman), Richard Hill (bowler), Will Cowley (player), Jon Hext (performance).
Sunday XI: Jon Hext (batter), Kieran Conway (bowler), Kieran Conway (overall player), Ash Munt (young player).
The club’s most improved player award was shared between Will Cowley and Richard Potter and the coveted ‘Duckman’ of the year award was taken home by Jake Smith.
