Kilmington just four points shy of being crowned champions

Kilmington are set to be crowned champions of the Tolchards Devon League D Division East champions after a rain hit penultimate match day of the season.

The only side who can deny Kilmington the top honour are Cullompton and their cause was hit badly when rain ruined their meeting with Upottery to such an extent that Cully were only able to muster nine points from the match.

With Whimple going into their final game knowing that they could not overhaul Kilmington at the top of the table, it all leaves the villagers needed four points fro this Saturdays meeting with Tiverton for them to be crowned champions.

Cullompton host Chardstock on Saturday and, given that they banked a maximum 20 points when they were at Chardstock on match day nine, they are likely to do similar on their own Landspeed Meadow patch.

If that happens then Kilmington will need four points from their home meeting with a Tiverton side they defeated and banked 19 points from the contest earlier in the season. Promotion to the C Division East will see Kilmington lock horns with the likes of Seaton, Feniton and Axminster in what will some interesting local derby matches!
