Upottery bagged a third win of the D Division East season and they are up to third, the highest ranked 1st XI side in the section with only Heathcoat 2nds and Exmouth 2nds above them in the table after they won by six wickets against Sandford 2nds.

The visiting Creedy Park men were restricted to 192-8 with Andrew Pulman (3-11) and Paul Wakefield (2-27) doing the damage with the ball before Jack Larcombe (63) and James Mitcham (46no) guided the Glebe Park men home.

Upottery skipper Mark Joyce said: “To be quite frank I was disappointed with the strength of them [Sandford II], especially given that they are the 2nd XI of a Premier side.

“That said we can only beat what is put before us and I think we did that fairly empathically on Saturday.”

Joyce added: “Jack [Larcombe] batted well and it’s a huge boost to have him back firing on all cylinders after a couple of months out with his broke leg from a football injury. This win only serves to further the growing belief that we are onto something good at Glebe Park and long may that feeling continue.”

It’s Uplyme and Lyme Regis next for Upottery and Joyce is looking for more of the same. He says: “With the feel good factor around the club we have competition for places and two teams that are looking to keep winning matches.”
