Archant

Ottery St Mary II were beaten for only the third time this Francis Clark League season, but they still ended the day climbing one place to top spot in the C Division 2nd XI table!

Ottery St Mary II fared even worse than their senior club mates – they were beaten at home by Clyst St George II, but still banked sufficient points to take over at the top of the table!

Zac Johns (3-46) and Rob Crabb (2-34) restricted the visitors to 231-9.

Crabb then powered his way to a thirteen boundary 82 with a dozen 4s and one six, bringing his half century up with the six.

He and Robert Bradshaw-Smith put on 120 to take the Otters from a perilous 12-3 to 132-4 when Crabb was out. Bradshaw-Smith was ninth man out for 70 and with his departure so went any hopes of completing the run chase.

The blow of losing their third game this term was softened greatly with news of the Ipplepen II defeat leaving Ottery two points clear heading into this weekend’s trip to Cornwood III.
