The Seaton C Division East season ended with a narrow 25-run defeat at the hands of champions Ottery St Mary.

It was fitting that Seaton should take the divisions top team so close in the final game for it summed up the feeling that the Court Lane side had been close, but not quite good enough to maintaining a promotion bid of their own.

Phil Collins (3-15), Chris Aplin (3-26) and Joe Berry (2-4) combined to bowl the champions out for just 122.

However, that total prove to be just beyond Seaton who replied with 97 thanks to an unbeaten 45 from Joel Seward with the best of the supporting acts being a knock of 20 from Joe Berry.

The Seaton season ends with them sitting fifth with 227 points which leaves them 38 points shy of second-placed Uplyme who will contest the play-off match and a comfortable 58 above the drop zone.

If skipper Ben Morgan can keep his young side together and perhaps add a touch more quality then perhaps this time next year they’ll be celebrating promotion themselves at stumps on the final day of the season!
