Seaton suffered last day pain as they secured an 18-point win at Countess Wear, but learnt it was not enough to see them promoted.
That’s because rivals for the second promotion spot, Shaldon, picked up 20 points from a victory over Filleigh and that leaves Seaton finishing third, four points adrift of Shaldon and that means another season in the D Division for Seaton next year.
Countess Wear were bowled out for 116, passed by Seaton for the los of five wickets.
Seaton II ended the season on a high, but they too were left frustrated by a rival team topping them by stumps. In their case it was Axminster II who took the one promotion berth available in D Division East!
Chris Aplin hit a superb 118 as Seaton declared on 288-5. Visiting Countess Wear were then bowled out for 125.
