Whimple skipper Jono Burden missed his sides 40 run home defeat to Yelverton and that probably saved the home dressing room walls a paint stripping session!

Promotion chasing Yelverton batted first and the hosts did very well to restrict them to 180-9 with Chris Palfrey claiming 4-13 in 13 overs and Matt Richards picking up three wickets.

Whimple were then on target in the run chase on 133-6 but then lost four wickets for seven runs to be bowled out for 140, the final wicket falling on the penultimate ball of the contest when Matt Richards was bowled.

This weekend Whimple travel to bottom of the table Bridestowe.

Whimple II lost for the fourth time in six outings when thumped at North Devon III who beat them by nine wickets.

Alex Evens was the only batsmen to make an impression with 31 in a team total of 91, passed with ease by the hosts.
