Kilmington made a losing start to their E Division season, beaten by three wickets in a low scoring affair with visiting Uplyme and Lyme Regis.

Tom Gooding’s 28 and knocks of 13 from Dave Cook and an unbeaten 12 from teenager Matt Rocket were the only double figure contributions in Kilmington’s 81 all out in just 29 overs.

Dave Norman then hit an unbeaten 32 and Ash Caddy weighed in with 11, whilst there were 26 extras in the visitors successful run chase that closed on 83-7 in the 30th over.

Kilmington skipper Hal Cook said: “It was not the most impressive of starts, but it was certainly a day when to lose the toss left you feeling very annoyed – as it did me! The positive to take from the game is that with such a low score on the board we then bowled very well, and, had we posted another twenty runs, I think we’d have seen a different outcome.”

Kilmington make the short trip to Upottery on Saturday.
