Uplyme 2nds were beaten by six wickets by visiting Whimple II.

On a damp wicket with overcast conditions favourable to bowlers the home side batted first.

Eddie Clarke and Dave Norman opened and the former fell for nine with the total on 17 with John Bardot the successful Whimple bowler. Tim Daniel and Steve Thorn both fell for seven before Norman was bowled by Grant Northover for 20 with the total 47-4.

Derek Wellman and Wesley Holmes then added 52 for the fifth wicket before Holmes became the fifth man down with the total on 99. He was the first of three wickets for Jono Burden. At 131-6 disaster struck as Daley Holmes (5) Wallace Blackmore (20) and Will Marshall (0) all fell without a single run being added. Last man Brian Rattenbury became the second victim for Grant Northover and the Uplyme II innings closed on 137 after 42.4 overs.

Felix Northover, Grant Northover and John Bardot each bagged a brace of wickets to go with the three that Jono Burden took.

Opener Simon Van Grudgings was trapped leg before by Wallace Blackmore with the Whimple reply on 16, but a 37-run partnership between skipper Will Bardot and Dan McConaghie saw Whimple to 53-2 and, despite Daley Holmes claiming a double Whimple eased home with six wickets and just over a dozen overs to spare.

On Saturday Whimple II entertain Countess Wear II.
