Upottery slipped to a seventh defeat in nine E Division outings, beaten by nine wickets at table topping Babbacombe.

Ryan Pullman top scored with 52 in a total of 155, but that proved well within reach for the South Devon side that lost just one wicket sealing an eighth win in ten games.

There was defeat too for Upottery II, beaten by 51 runs at home to Countess Wear II.

Nigel Wyatt and Bruce Inglis both claimed three wicket hails as the visitors posted a healthy 292-9.

Dan Prettejohn continued his recent fine form with a splendid unbeaten knock of 77 and there were a charitable 45 extras as the villagers replied with a respectable 241-7, but that consigned them to another reversal, their fifth of the season.

Next up is a crucial basement battle with the team sitting immediately above them at the foot of the table, Yarcombe and Stockland who visit Upottery on Saturday for a game the team that loses may well consider their fate settled for this season!
