Upottery remain entrenched in an E Division relegation battle with the games running out.

They went down by 81-runs at promotion chasing Shaldon who batted first and scored 223-6. Dan Broom and Gary Kennard both bagged a brace of wickets for Upottery who were then bowled out for 142.

Matthew Button-Stephens was the only batsman to make much of an impression with 25 and there were 38 extra’s in the total.

Two to play, and for Upottery to avoid sliding back a Division they need to bank five more points from a trip to Bridestowe this Saturday and a last day home meeting with Kentisbeare than Topsham St James manage in games with Whitchurch and Shaldon.

Upottery II went down by seven wickets at home to D Division East 2nd XI champions-in-waiting Exeter II.

Adam Pullman top scored with 37 in Upottery’s 125, passed with ease by the visitors.
