Upottery were desperately unlucky in their bid for last-day survival.

They travelled to Kentisbeare for their final game knowing only a declaration victory and 22 points would give them any chance.

They did just that only to then learn of their fate from results elsewhere.

Batting first Upottery declared on 264-6.

In a thrilling finish the Mid Devon side got to within a single run, closing on 263-9 with Upottery taking 21 points.

Next season the villagers will come up against Buckland, Cullompton, Chelston, Chardstock, Cheriton Fitzpaine, Culmstock, Lifton, Newton St Cyres, Tiverton, Wodbury and Yarcombe who are the other relegated side from the E Division this season.
