Waterhouse leads Seaton to vital win as D Division safety draws near

Seaton eased any concerns there might be at Court Lane about the club’s D Division status as they claimed a sixth win of the season, defeating a Ashburton side they climbed above in the table after compelting a 12-run win.

It was a fine all-round show that saw Ben Morgan’s side to victory.

Batting first in conditions that certainly suited th ebowling side, they were led to a competitive total of 191-9 by a superb innings from Jon Waterhouse who was finally dismised just seven runs shy of what would have been a fabulous century.

The best of the rest in terms of contributions with the bat were knocks of 24 by both Sean Perry and Mike Wheeler.

Ben Libby and Joe Berry then got to work with the ball and claimed six wickets between them to leave the visitors high and dry on 179 when they lost their tenth and final wicket.

Libby finished with 4-25 and Berry’s figures were 2-27.

The 19 point haul sees Seaton into sixth place in the table where they sit 29 points clear of second bottom Clyst St George.

Morgan’s men begin their run of the last foru game sof the campaign on Saturday with a home match against Uplyme and Lyme Regis.

They then travel to a Whitchurch side who lost to Clyst St George last weekend before visitng Yelverton and then ending the season at home to Feniton on the final Saturday of the month.
