Whimple’s season ended on a losing note as they went down by five wickets to Bridestowe.

Whimple went into their final game with an outside chance of promotion, but they needed to win their game and make up a 12-point deficit on second paced Whitchurch.

Whitchurch lost their final game and banked just seven points which would have left Whimple promoted had they beaten Bridestowe with 19 points.

Batting first it was a Kev Thompson knock of 46 and an innings of 45 from Kev Brandon that were the main contributions to a total of 146.

Sadly that was not enough to fashion victory as Bridestowe, who had to win to keep their place in the section, got home with five wickets in hand.
