Whimple pick off Cherries to make it a great eight

Whimple made it eight straight D Division (East) wins with a five wicket win over Cheriton Fitzpaine.

The Cherries batted first and were bowled out for 159 with Luke Jefferson and Phil Hope each claiming three wickets.

Matt Brown (49no) and Duncan McConachie (34no) then saw Whimple to victory. Meanwhile, the 2nd XI were involved in a close encounter with Barnstaple and Pilton II. The North Devon side batted first and had a centurion in their ranks as they closed on 209-7. Wes Burden bagged three wickets and then Callum Lefevre (63) and Jono Burden (75) got Whimple to within nine runs when the final wicket was lost with the reply on 200.

On Saturday the 1st XI entertain second in the table Upottery and should they be able to make it nine straight wins they will have one foot in the C Division (East) already!
