Whimple have reached the point of no return in their bid to bag promotion to the D Division.

With last Saturday’s washout across the Francis Clark Devon League it means everybody picked up six points in the section with the exception of basement side Yarcombe (9) and Whitchurch (11).

Those five points for Whitchurch take them above Whimple and into second place.

This Saturday is the penultimate match day of the campaign and Whimple entertain champions-in-waiting Babbacombe whilst Whitchurch host Kentisbeare.

Whimple must match the Whitchurch result to take their bid for promotion to the final day of the season on August 31 when they travel to relegation-threatened Bridestowe whilst Whitchurch’s last day opposition are hosts Kenn.

Whimple take on the table topers looking to close the gap of four points between themselves and Whitchurch.

If they fail to bag promotion then Whimple will no doubt point to a soggy third Saturday of August when they could not pay, but their rivals got at least some action!
