Whitton hits maiden league century for Whimple

Whimple II batsman Luke Whitton scored a maiden league century to help the side to a 122-run victory over North Devon III.

With his Dad, Whimple stalwart and grounds man Adrian, taking four wickets later in the game, it was certainly a case of a ‘Whimple Whitton family affair!’

Whitton junior joined the action at the fall of the fourth wicket and he took his time to settle before eventually easing his way to his first ever league half century.

Once past the magical 50, he raced towards his ton to finish on 100 not out – his first league century - as Whimple II closed on 250-5.

North Devon were then bowled out for 128 with Whitton senior returning figures of 4-22 and Nick Thornton finishing with 3-12.
