Chardstock Cricket Club have pulled out of the Devon League only because they are short of players. They have a young crop of players who will not be ready for league action for two years when they hope to re-enter the Devon League fray. A club spokesman said: "We aren't knocking the league. It isn't the best one we have played in - no one likes travelling a lot - but it is the only one we can go in so we are happy with that. Once our new crop of players are ready we will be back. We didn't have enough players to fulfil fixtures next season and we didn't want to let anyone down.
