The penultimate round of the seniors’ Winter league programme took place on Friday in the face of a bitter easterly wind, writes Janet Dack.

In the conditions the winning score of 36 points by Bryan Dale and Rob Grove, the present holders, was all the more impressive.

In second place came Sid Pember and Neil Moorcraft with 34 points and one behind with 33 points, in third place, were Dave Sammons and Peter Rollason.

The final round is scheduled for this Friday (March 8), and although Chris Walker and Nick Povey are leading at the moment, they could be caught if Rob Heard and Hugh Willis produce a score to equal that of Messr’s Dale and Grove last Friday.

Round Nine of the Winter League has been played.

The winners were Anthony Chadwick and Steve Reed with a nett 63.

Second place went to Simon Palmer and Matt Donnan with a nett 67, beating Gavin Seward and Steve Bond on the back nine.
