Whilst a magnificent 82 golfers signed up for the stableford competition this week, only 22 were eligible for the 2018 Masters prize, writes Ann Desmoulins.
Successful golfers from last summer’s competitions fight out for the prize - a green Masters jumper.
This year’s winner was Alan Devenny with his score of 40 points, and he was presented with his jumper by Honiton seniors’ captain John Pawley.
The stableford competition itself resulted in a win for Mike Watts with his score being 40 points – and that saw him finish just ahead of Masters jumper winner Alan in Division One.
Next came Bill Phillips with 38 and Jim Wallis with 37. In Division Two it seemed like Nick Mitchell had just pipped John Pawley on countback with his score of 38 points only for that to be overtaken by Larry Goodliffe with his 40 points tally. Never one to be quiet, he also earned a charity pot fine - so all members will be checking he puts his money in the pot next time!
In fourth place in Division Two was Kit Barker with 37 points. Six members scored twos with them being sunk at the second, fourth and 12th holes and each received nine balls for their efforts.
