Chard swimmers were busy in action again during the half term break at the Three Towers Open Meet at Millfield, with 23 swimmers aged between nine and 16 competing over the two days writes Hannah Pullinger.

The swimmers achieved many top medal positions with 19 Gold, Silver or Bronze positions. Special mention goes to twelve year old Abi Morgan for achieving the Club Silver Speed Badge in the 50m Freestyle event.

Swimmers achieving South West Counties Consideration Times were; Tessa Down, 16, in 100 and 200m breaststroke, 200m individual medley, and Melissa Hanson, 15, in the 200 backstroke. Twenty four of the swims achieved county standard times.

Gold medals were won by Tessa Down, 16, in the 50m breaststroke, Melissa Hanson, 15, 200m backstroke, Baylei Callow, 11, 50m freestyle, Lewis Pearson, 14, 400m freestyle, Leo Kindred, 12, 100m breaststroke.

Silver medals were won by Tessa Down in the 200m individual medley, 200m and 100m in the breaststroke, Lewis Pearson 100m backstroke, Holly Dickinson, 11, 200m butterfly, Simon Davis, 12, 400m freestyle, Leo Kindred 50m breaststroke, Briana Barrand, 9, 50m breaststroke.

Bronze medals went to Melissa Hanson in the 100m backstroke, Lewis Pearson 200m freestyle, 200m backstroke, Xanthe Dyer 11, 50m breaststroke, Cole Dickinson, 9, 50m butterfly, Jamie Porter, 9, 50m freestyle.

Other medal winners were: Grace Haskins, 13, Flo Swan, 14, Abi Morgan, 12, and 9-year-old Mia Huntley.

Other swimmers who also took part gaining many personal best times were: Jay Kindred, Eden McDonald, Helen Underwood, Megan and Abbie Herbert, Joss and Harriet Copeman, Imogen Waterhouse and Ben Webb.

Swimmers of the Month were Louis Rood, 11, and Grace Haskins, 14, for achieving the most progress points in Club Gala Four.
