After a two week period of weather which was not conducive to good golf, hopes were high for an improvement for the monthly Seniors Stableford, writes Steve Percival.
However, this was not to be as the competition began in light drizzle and, as the rounds continued, there was a steady deterioration in the weather and course conditions. Inevitably the scores reflected the conditions with only one of the participants achieving a better than equivalent of level par.
It is also a reflection on the conditions that only one player, Barry Carter, carded a “two.” Division one was won by Paul Galloway(14) with 37 points with Rob Hampson (18) taking second place on countback over David Clifford (18). In division two it was Colin Conn (27)who took the honours on countback with 33 points over Trevor Coombes(19) and David Hay(19) who carded 32 points.
