Dunkeswell bowlers launched a new outdoor season last week, writes Tom Williams.

The club’s first outing of the season took them to Feniton for a meeting on grass and they lost the match, but one and all enjoyed the match.

Dunkeswell, who have an artificial surface at their club home, are holding an open afternoon on Saturday, May 7, when they hope to be able to recruit some desperately needed new members.

The afternoon runs from 1.30pm to 4.30pm and there will be coaches available to help folk who are considering getting involved in what is a splendid sport for all ages. Various sized woods will also be available for prospective new club members to try and see what weight of wood suits them.

All people attending need to take with them is flat bottomed shoes. So, make a date, Saturday, May 7, at Dunkeswell Bowls Club. It may well prove to be a visit that changes tour life in terms of finding a new sport/hobby!
